Food Allergy

Talk to Us about Your Food Allergies and Diet Needs! 

Nicholls State University Dining Services is committed to offering safe and delicious food for students with special dietary needs.  The dining services team is trained and knowledgeable about preparing food for those with allergies, intolerances, and celiac disease.  Please be sure to inform your servers of any special dietary needs prior to placing your order.  It is important to note that even with the best precautions in place, the risk of cross-contact may still exist.  Some methods of preparing food are more prone to cross-contact, such as deep frying.

 

 

If you have a special dietary need, please inform the Executive Chef Norman Hunt at norman.hunt@sodexo.com, or send us a note using the feedback form. We will then arrange a meeting with our Executive Chef and Campus Dietitian to develop a plan that accommodates each student’s needs. 

 

Depending on your allergy, you may also need to work with your resident advisor, roommate, friends and faculty. People around you should know if you carry an epinephrine self-injector, and about your emergency plan. My Zone

My ZoneMy Zone is our campus “pantry” located at _____________, where food items needed by students with Celiac disease or food allergies are stored and prepared with precautions against cross-contact. This special area is free of tree nut, peanut, and gluten-containing ingredients and products. My Zone gives students the ability to be involved in their own allergen-safe meal preparation. Simple Servings

Simple ServingsSimple Servings is our allergen-safe, dining option for our customers with food allergies, gluten intolerance, or those who prefer plain and simple foods. The Simple Servings station offers food free from common allergens: peanuts, tree nuts, shellfish, wheat, soy, milk products, and eggs.  All foods offered are also free from gluten-containing ingredients. Simple Servings staff members are carefully trained to avoid cross-contact with food allergens. Separate equipment, storage areas, utensils and preparation areas minimize, but do not totally eliminate, the chances of gluten and allergens in our Simple Servings foods.
